iVOSc Enterprise Platform
Providing IT Departments with Power and Flexibility

Aon eSolutions designed the iVOSc Carrier Edition to have a modern, adaptable architecture – known as the iVOSc Enterprise Platform, which provides IT professionals with the flexibility to align iVOSc to meet their company’s unique needs.

The platform includes four component sets:

  • iVOSc Developer Set empowers IT departments with maximum control to customize and configure the system.
  • iVOSc Integration Set provides a complete set of Connectors to internal and external systems which enhances enterprise-wide integration.
  • iVOSc Rules Engine Set offers both embedded and third-party business rules to improve workflow automation.
  • iVOSc Reporter Set enables insurers to report and analyze data to improve profitability, growth, and performance.

Using the iVOSc Enterprise Platform, insurance companies break down traditional silos that have existed between departments and create a single platform that consolidates data, shares information with stakeholders, and improves decision-making across the enterprise.

iVOSc is written in Java and conforms to J2EE standards. With this open, flexible, and adaptable platform, iVOSc is easy to support, maintain, and upgrade. The platform easily fits into an insurance company’s complex IT environment, accommodating various operating systems, databases, web servers, and application servers.

iVOSc Developer Set

iVOSc Developer Set provides IT departments with the ability to configure and customize the system. IT departments can:

  • Restrict user access and functionality within the system
  • Configure the look-and-feel of the user interface
  • Customize screens and fields to collect meaningful data
  • Integrate iVOSc into a world-class security infrastructure

iVOSc Integration Set

The iVOSc Integration Set optimizes data and system integration within an insurer’s enterprise. This set offers a wide array of “Connectors” that enable easy integration with various internal and external systems, applications, and business partners.

The set provides several Connector technologies and methodologies, including data conversion from legacy applications; batch processing; real-time data exchange using ACORD standards for XML and Web Services; API adapters to integrate with third-party applications; and message-oriented middleware (MOM) utilizing the Java Messaging Service (JMS).

iVOSc Rules Engine Set

The iVOSc Rules Engine Set offers the benefits of both an embedded and an independent rules engine. The embedded iVOSc Rules Engine is easy-to-use and configure, enabling insurers to automate procedures for claims, policy administration, underwriting, and billing. Business users can make process changes quickly to adapt to market demands.

In addition to the 400-plus business rules that are part of the application, iVOSc offers a Java Rules Engine API (application program interface) that provides clients with the option to connect with independent third-party engine as well.

The combined capabilities of an embedded and independent rules engine provide maximum system control and configurability. Insurance companies can define virtually any business rule and apply it across their organization.

iVOSc Reporter Set

The iVOSc Reporter Set allows insurance companies to analyze, report, and act on the information captured in the system’s data repository. Business users create and modify reports using easy configuration capabilities. The Reporter Set includes enterprise report distribution to automatically generate and distribute reports via the Internet to stakeholders and customers.

Insurance companies leverage these analytical capabilities to achieve business objectives in profitability, growth, and market share. For example, real-time intelligence enables insurers to strategically manage their books of business. With timely business intelligence, organizations are empowered to make faster, more accurate decisions to underwrite risks, reduce losses, and collect payments.
